One week
One week
Sorry about the dancing. Apologies for the unbridled joy and
relief. Sorry for hugging our kids with thoughts of their future we prayed they
hadn’t considered. And apologies for laughing our asses off at the beyond
Borat-level stupidity that ensued. (Well maybe we’ll keep that one).
It’s Tuesday, Nov 10. Not even a full week since the polls
closed. Sorry we needed a week - those of us who have seen the past four years
as the most insane, depressing, dividing, dangerous, immoral, ignorant, and
terrifying four years of our lives. But we’re good now. Facts and hope work
fast. We will curb our enthusiasm, retrieve the popped corks, and focus on the
work we all need to share.
We won’t take victory laps as you slowly, quietly, anonymously
acknowledge you were horribly duped. Allowed yourself to be duped. Knew you
were being duped but looked the other way for some rationalization that now
scares you to admit. That’s between you and you. We’re good. Just needed a week
to exhale and smile again after a previously unimaginable four years. Not
looking to shame anyone. Rather get back to being America. The great one.
